This center speaker is a great complement to my surround system. I had recently upgraded my sound system to 7.1 surround. The center channel is very clear so voices from blueray or games sound realistic. I originaly purchased a Sony SS-CR3000 rear speaker surround system with center speaker. I found that system to be lacking so I upgraded to the Sony SS-CN5000 center speaker and a pair of Sony SS-BN1000 bookshelf speakers for the rear channel. No distortion at all. Amazing sound for around $80.00.
All of these speakers have the same woofers and resistance values for a very balanced sound. This is an excellent center channel speaker. When all of your speakers are the same load, they compliment one another. It is very clear and has a great response with movies and music.I have this integrated into a 7.1 surround sound setup using a Sony receiver and all Sony speakers. This speaker is accompanied by 6 of the Sony SS-B1000 5.25" bookshelf speakers. The overall sound is very full and clear.Before I was using an older Sony center channel speaker (which had 2 paper 5 1/4" woofers, 1 1/2" tweeter, ported) and it stuck out like a sore thumb as far as sound quality (very tinny, no bass).
what a great sounding unit the voice is crystal clear and the bass is great.a great sounding speaker for a great price.
To give you an idea I was really looking into getting polk center channel. I bought this speaker after I bought a pair of sony bookshelf speakers to match the set. I was so shocked when I installed it into my system. For the price and quality it far exceeds my expectations and not to mention out performs. My only regret is I wish I wasn't so predisposed to getting the highest end equipment I possibly could. It filled the room with voices an other sounds I never heard before even in both songs and movies that I'm very familiar with.
The Sony center channel was about $45 less than the polk that was comparable to it and at equal quality. This one unlike the bookshelf speakers, (officially gave them a 4 and 3/4 stars)I give a 5 star rating to. Don't get me wrong it sounded great but there was not a noticable difference between the two except for the price. Then we get to the price. I got it for about $85 including shipping. In my honest opinion, this is the only way to go.
I would have had my system upgraded a long time ago saving almost 3 months of searching and researching.
EXCELLENT center speaker. Using it in a 7.1 system with a hefty Onkyo AV receiver.
