However you can't get wrong with this one. I ordered it via Amazon and came on time. Dialog is great and music sounds great as well. Lots of reviews I have seen says that the speaker is too big. Its actually amazing for the price point that this speaker is this powerful and clear. If you take a look at some other decent center speakers actually you will find this one slightly smaller. This speaker can handle all the power that my receiver can give.
I have Sony DH800 receiver and four Yamaha NS6490 and Sony SA3000 sub. This speaker is just the right size for the center channel speaker. I was looking for decent center speaker that has serious kick. I am talking about the finishing of the speaker.
I have had this speaker for roughly 3 months now. Actually this one has fit in well for my 5.1 surround sound. DTS and Dolby digtal 5.1 sounds great. If you have chance you can also try the BIC America DV-62CLRS I have heard great things about them. This one was just hard to pass by for the money. Hopefully Sony will make the next generation speaker look little better than this. That is not true. With 150w you got plenty of power as well.
I first looked at Yamaha center speakers and then this one. I gave it a shot and I am happy I did. I have to admit the finishing is not my favorite one. Go and get this speaker.
I just found them annoying. This is very rare for a center channel. Although I had to play music for 7 straight hours to "set" these speakers in. You could see through and clearly see the woofers. First of all, these speakers are quite large.
The speaker grills don't "hide" the woofers very well. My greatest delight is how it enhanced my music setup. They are just less known and for some reason, these days they only have one series.Well these center channel was purchased to add some vocal performance to music as well as movies (that's what center channel's are for right). Why cover the woofers if they don't really make them invisible like other speaker grills.
It turns out they were never pre-tested in the factory so like boots, they need to be broken into. These speakers are trooper. Clear dialogues and enhancement in music enjoyment. this is minimal complaint especially if you watch your movies in the dark. Having said that, the quality of build is excellent. Now the balance of sound in my setup sounds like a concert hall.I have used other HIGHER performing center channels before but they cost 3x-4x as much at least.
Sony has always made solid set of speakers. I am currently punching in 140 watts (RMS, not peak). and they handle well even at high volumes. The sound nothing short of amazement for the price. TWO 5.25" drivers and a tweeter, it even has a port. But even then the quality build can't compare with this SONY. You may want to check their dimensions because even though they claim it is designed for Bravia, I do not see how the depth of the speakers could match your bravia.
I feel like I could drop these center channel down the stairs and still get the same performance. You can't beat what you get for the price. The cones are made of very durable material. The center channel takes all my vocals and adds the midrange my other speakers are lacking. It is very uncommon to find a center channel with much thought and detail as front speakers put into them and this center channel feels like it hits that spot.
Got this center speaker to replace my Sony Bravia HT-SS2000 Home Theater System the one that came with the home theater system with a little weak all around so I got this bad boy. Makes everything sound 10 times better the only thing it a big center speaker but the sound is big too.
A great sounding speaker, precise, clear, no distortion and able to handle plenty of power. I've used it on multiple systems and room sizes with never a regret. the big surprise is that it is soooo low cost. It really does sound like a much higher end center.
I have had this center channel for about 2 years now. But unless you put this speaker side by side with the high end units you won't hear a difference. My opinion is this; if your receiver is under $500, this is a great CC for you. Simply put, you cannot match the quality of the sound from this unit for the money. Sure, you can drop $400 on something else (get what you pay for). If you are dropping a TON of dough on the receiver, the step up the center.Other wise, enjoy what Sony does so well. great quality mid-line equipment.
